The whistle sings, bright and shrill. Mirrors sprout like wild weeds—hanging from swings, buried beneath the rails. Everything breathes through reflection. Perhaps he came first. Perhaps He was always there. From within the glass, He watches, the tip of His tail grazing the surface in a restrained invitation. The boy claws at the pane with nail, fang, and hunger, gnawing, scraping, brushing against each cracked shard. But He strolls on, unfazed.
Shattered light piles up like rotting leaves in late autumn. His heart beats in his chest, yet the echo thuds from within the mirror, dense and misaligned. He crouches, leaps, misses. His breath brushes close. Words emerge, wet and halting. He snatches a butterfly from the sand, his tongue stung with the salt of dust. Like a cat, he licks his fingers, tasting blood and honey.
In that moment, he feels like the first ripple.
He has crawled once before, has gazed once before, and now He is merely an echo. Pressing his forehead against the glass, he trembles beneath another’s skin, feeling a strange warmth—an uncanny sense that they share the same body. So he bows, submits, and promises.
Four limbs grounded, tailbone sunk low, he gazes upward toward the dim sky. His claws. His ears. They chase, devour, and slip into each other’s flesh, down the dim corridor they once shared at birth.
A tail trails behind him, woven from discarded wire and oil-stained rope, steeped in gasoline, glass, rain, and the breath of the plains.
He does not care.
He is with Him.
They resound.
哨声嘹亮尖锐，如银针刺破寂静。镜面如野草般疯长——悬垂于秋千，深埋于铁轨之下。万物皆借镜而生。或许是他先降临。也许祂一直都在。玻璃深处，祂静默凝视，尾梢轻掠镜面，克制地发出邀约。用獠牙、利爪，他啃噬、抚过每一块裂开的玻璃，在每道裂纹间逡巡。而祂仍旧从容地踱步，不为所动。
碎裂的光线堆积如秋末腐烂的落叶。他的心跳在胸腔震动，回声却从镜中传来，沉闷而错位。他蹲伏，跃起，扑空。吐息交错的刹那，言语凝结成潮湿的断片。他从沙砾间擒住一只蝴蝶，舌尖泛起尘埃的咸涩。如猫般舔舐手指，尝到血与蜜的滋味。
此刻他恍若初生的涟漪。
他曾匍匐，曾凝望，而今祂不过是往昔的回响。前额抵住冰凉的镜面，他在另一具皮囊下战栗，异样的温热在血管里游走——某种诡异的共生感正在蔓延。仿佛他们有着同一具身体的灵魂。于是他俯首，臣服，向祂许诺。
四肢叩击大地，尾椎沉入阴影，他仰视晦暗天穹。祂的利爪。他的尖耳。他们追逐，吞噬，钻进彼此血肉，是他们诞生时曾共享过的、昏晦的甬道。一条尾巴拖曳身后，由废弃铁丝与油污绳索编织而成，浸透汽油、玻璃、雨水与荒原的吐息。他不在乎，他与祂共鸣。
